We have the most sensational prizes to give away this year as our Style Panel search for Aintree’s Most Stylish Racegoer, male or female.

Along with our Style Competition, there’s also the chance to win some fantastic ‘spot prizes’ if you’re spotted around the course looking exceptionally stylish, so there’s even more reason to covet your raceday style on Thursday and Friday of the John Smith’s Grand National!

New for 2010, Thursday, the opening day of the famous race festival, will be Liverpool Day, when we’ll be celebrating all that is great about our City. Featuring live music and Liverpool themed entertainment, there will also be fashion shows to the sound of the 6ix Toys in the Red Rum Garden brought to you exclusively by our Style 2010 partner, Matalan. The day will also see one lucky racegoer be selected by our Style Spotters and win a Boodles Raindance Diamond Ring or a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes courtesy of Cricket.

Friday is Ladies’ Day, and this really is your chance to show us your fashion passion. Take to the catwalk in the Red Rum Garden from 12.30pm until 2.30pm for the chance to win a VIP day out on Grand National Day and go through to the Style 2010 final. Also, in this area, don’t miss Matalan’s Fashion Shows and Fashion Doctor, where their Style Ambassadors will be on hand to give out raceday styling tips, and a few goody bags!

Saturday is John Smith’s Grand National Day, and is also the day that our five stylish finalists will be invited back to Aintree for the chance to be crowned Aintree’s Most Stylish Racegoer by local fashionista Coleen Rooney, and win a fantastic money-can’t-buy lifestyle prize, including:

The WAG lifestyle with an amazing trip to London including a night's accommodation in a luxury hotel, a photo shoot directed by Jeff Banks who will help you spend your £500 Matalan voucher, personally handpicking a new wardrobe for you with his expert style advice, all topped off with dinner at The Ivy where you can rub shoulders with celebrities and review your new look and portfolio.

International fashion designer Jeff Banks offers his style tips for Aintree racegoers

Paying attention to the finer details of your outfit will not only ensure you look good from top to toe, but, will also make sure you catch the eye of those all important judges! That said every savvy and stylish girl knows that you don’t need to spend a small fortune to be crowned the winner of ‘Style 2010’.
Follow my top tips to race ahead in the fashion stakes:

  • Spring’s prettiest colour palette is pastels; shades of baby blue, spearmint, candy floss pink and softest lilac all help to create one of SS10’s key trends, the romantic look.

  • Add to the ultra girlie feel by incorporating wispy feathers and sheer, floaty fabrics. A bow hairpiece is the ultimate girl’s accessory to finish the look.

  • If the feminine look isn’t your thing then ‘Spring Bling’ could be. Inspired by Chanel and Gucci, this look is all about abundance but think chic, not showy. Elegance and glamour offset the glitz.

  • Look for dresses with intricate details to create an appearance of opulence, from floral appliqués, beading and embroidery all as seen in the Christian Dior shows.

  • If hats and fascinators are something you havent tried before then this year is the time to take the plunge and add drama to any outfit. Vintage accessories have gone nowhere with a particular focus on ‘30’s fashion, look out for berets, driving caps and wide brimmed hats.

  • Finally, fella’s beware, just because you need to wear a suit and tie, doesn’t mean you have to look like you have just stepped out of a job interview! Go for a single-button suit that will give you a sleek silhouette and make your shoulders look broader. Alternatively, a two-button suit is a classic that will never fail to flatter and lengthen your frames.
