I need…To get to Aintree early so I can make the most of the day
Open from 9am on Grand National Day, and from 10am on Thursday and Friday of the meeting, it’s best to get to Aintree early to make the most of your day, and also to allow for racecourse security procedures.
I need…To walk the course
Don’t miss out on your opportunity to walk the famous course [subject to ground conditions]. You will need to leave at least an hour before the first race starts in order to make it round the whole course. See all the famous fences to really appreciate the challenge that is the Grand National course. NB Not available to Steeplechase ticket holders.
I need…To know what time the racing action begins
On Thursday and Friday, races start at 2pm, whilst on Saturday, racing begins at the slightly earlier time of 1.45pm, with the John Smith’s Grand National starting at 4.15pm. On each raceday, racing is usually concluded by 5.30pm.
I need…To plan what to wear
Although there is no official dress code, smart is preferable and is often adopted. Aintree is a spectacle of colour for all three days of the race meeting, with many using their trip as an opportunity to showcase their favourite raceday outfits. Hats are optional too, but are frequently worn.
I need…A seat, which ticket should I purchase?
Limited seating is available around the racecourse. If you would prefer to be seated for most of the day, it is advisable that you purchase a seat for viewing in advance in one of our grandstands or West Tip seats.
I need…To transfer/upgrade my ticket on the day, would I be able to?
These may be available on the day, subject to availability, but we advise you to buy your preferred tickets/badges in advance to avoid disappointment.
