The going remains the same after a dry night when the temperature dropped to minus2C.
Grand National course - Good to Soft, Good in places
Mildmay & Hurdle courses - Good, Good to Soft in places
Andrew Tulloch, Regional Head of Racing North West and Clerk of the Course at Aintree, said: “It has been a difficult winter – very wet and then this cold spell.
“What a wonderful morning though – there is not a better place in England.
“We had a sharp frost, with temperatures getting down to minus2C overnight. It was just a grass frost bit it still felt pretty nippy. The temperature is due to get up to plus8C today.
“The ground is on the easy side on all courses. We will try and maintain the existing going description over the three days with selective watering.
“We started watering at the weekend and basically have done every other day on each course. We are looking to produce good, safe jumping ground.”
Mildmay & Hurdle courses - all running rail and the hurdles are on the outside line, adding approximately 25 yards per circuit on the Mildmay course and 95 yards on the Hurdle course.
The hurdles and rails will be moved in approximately four yards after racing today and tomorrow to provide fresher ground on the inside tomorrow and Saturday.
Bends will be moved in for tomorrow and Saturday on the Mildmay course.
Thursday - Sunny spells becoming cloudier this afternoon. 8C. 0C overnight.
Friday - Mainly cloudy, some sunny spells. 8C. 0C overnight.
Saturday - Dry and cloudy, possible shower in the afternoon. 8C.
