The official going ahead of day one of the John Smith's Grand National meeting remains:
Mildmay and Hurdle courses - Good to Soft
National course - Good to Soft, Soft in places
“We had half a millimetre of rain overnight and we could get some showers today,” said Andrew Tulloch, Aintree’s Clerk of the Course and Director of Racing. “We’re very pleased with the courses, they are in very good shape ahead of racing today.”
Today’s forecast is for sunny spells with possible showers and temperatures of 10 degrees. Friday is set to be sunny with showers and a temperature of 11 degrees while Saturday is forecast to be cooler with a temperature of eight degrees and again sunshine and possible showers.
Hurdles will move inwards, onto fresh ground, each day.
GOING CHANGE AT 12.30PM
The official going ahead of day one of the John Smith’s Grand National meeting has changed before racing today to:
Mildmay - Chase and Hurdle courses - Good to Soft, good in places (from Good to Soft). GoingStick reading 6.7
Grand National course - Good to Soft, good in places at fences 13 & 14 (from Good to Soft, Soft in places). GoingStick reading 6.4
“Following a dry morning, the going has dried up slightly,” said Andrew Tulloch, Aintree’s Clerk of the Course and Director of Racing.
