16.03.09 - THE GRAND NATIONAL, RACING AT AINTREE

Status Quo to headline Aintree Racing and Music Night

Aintree Racecourse is proud to announce that legendary rock band Status Quo will perform at the racecourse following the final race of the summer season on Friday 12th June.  This will be Status Quo’s first ever concert at the world famous racecourse, and is set to be the second largest outdoor concert ever staged at the Liverpool course.

In what is their only scheduled visit to Liverpool in 2009, Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt and the band will perform a full set for Aintree racegoers packed with a huge selection of some of their greatest hits and fans’ favourites from their incredible catalogue – last year the band released their 75th single and they have now had more hit albums than The Beatles!  The band who famously opened Live Aid in 1990 with ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’ are the perfect choice to provide the soundtrack as Aintree closes its season of summer race evenings.

Tickets for the event are now on sale online at www.aintree.co.uk or in person from the booking office at the racecourse.  Tickets for the Status Quo race evening cost £19 if purchased on or before Friday 29th May, £24 after this date and on the night.  Admission includes a full evening of racing and the concert following racing.  Tickets for the two other meetings in the summer series (Friday 8th May and Friday 15th May) cost £16 if purchased in advance the meeting.  Details of entertainment at both of these meetings will be released shortly.  Racegoers wishing to purchase tickets over the telephone can do so from Monday 6th April on 0844 579 3001.

Emma Owen, Aintree’s Marketing & PR Manager commented: “With the racecourse hosting both the John Smith’s Grand National and Status Quo in the coming months, it’s certainly a very exciting time for the city.  Each year, the line up of acts continues to get better and we’re thrilled to have an act with such an excellent pedigree conclude our racing evenings.  Tickets for Status Quo are sure to be in huge demand for all evenings and there’s going to be no better round off to our racing year.”

With just over two weeks to go until the 2009 John Smith’s Grand National, tickets and hospitality for the meeting are still available to purchase from the racecourse in person, online at www.aintree.co.uk or by calling 0844 579 3001.
