08.10.10 - RACING AT AINTREE

Sport and Spooks for Aintree's Autumn Opener

Aintree Racecourse today announced a bumper line up of sport and entertainment for its first race meeting of the new jump racing season on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th October.

The opening day is Aintree’s only Saturday raceday outside of the John Smith’s Grand National meeting with seven exciting races including the £60,000 totescoop6 Grade 2 Old Roan Chase, last year competed by 2010 John Smith’s Grand National winner Don’t Push It, whilst the day’s big matches will be shown in a dedicated sports lounge. Racegoers attending on this day can also enjoy a complimentary post race drink at Alma de Cuba on production of their race ticket.

Sunday will see the return of Matalan’s Freaky Family Funday, where racing is teamed with a day of free themed Halloween entertainment for all ages, including a Mad Science workshop and slime making stations, face painting, fancy dress competitions and magic shows. There’ll also be pony grooming and free pony rides for the children in Aintree’s Equestrian Centre.

Admission for children aged 17 and under is free for the whole weekend and ‘early-bird’ tickets are now available at a special advance price of £16 (standard general admission price usually £19 after 21/10/10). General admission tickets give racegoers access to all public areas, including Aintree’s unreserved grandstand seats.

Tickets can be purchased now by booking online at aintree.co.uk or by calling the ticket hotline on 0844 579 3001. Great deals on hospitality packages are also available within the Princess Royal Restaurant, where kids eat free and hospitality is available from just £50 per person, inclusive of admission badge, a set menu and racecards, call 0151 522 2911 to find out more.
