Show Jumpers and Jockeys Jump for Glory
On Sunday, 23rd November, during the totesport Becher Chase meeting at Aintree, Aintree International Equestrian Centre (set in the grounds of Aintree Racecourse) will stage a special, one-off show jumping challenge between racing’s leading jump jockeys and show jumpers. Taking place within the centre from 2pm during the totesport Becher Chase meeting, the Becher meeting invitation class, named after the day’s feature race, will see competitors take part in a special one-off relay challenge.
Jockeys provisionally confirmed to take part include, Champion jockey AP McCoy, Peter Buchanan, Denis O’Regan and Ritchie McGrath to name just a few. The Show Jumper’s team includes a number of local riders, including Keith Shore and Richard Adams plus Carol Richardson.
Local rider Jo McGlory of Lydiate will be competing in the opening event of the day, the Stephex Horseboxes 1.30 metre Open event which is one of three classes (in addition to the Jump jockeys versus show jumpers challenge) taking place in the centre that afternoon.
Admission for this event is free for children and includes both access to the jumping event in the Equestrian Centre, plus access all public areas for the race meeting on the day.
