RECORD totejackpot DIVIDEND WON
A record jackpot dividend of £510,955.60 has been won by an online punter who placed a £32 bet through the link on betfair.com.
The lucky punter had two horses going into the final leg, Boychuk and Oedipe, and won the bet to the full £1 unit.
After Master Minded’s defeat in the third leg, the John Smith’s Melling Chase, there was just £132 left in the pool.
totesport spokesman Damian Walker said: "This was an unbelievable piece of betting.
"You might have thought the punter would have played safe in the final leg and gone for one of the favourites, but he carried on his strategy that had got him through to the final leg and it paid off.
"It is quite fitting that Oedipe was successful in the totepool Handicap Chase and we are delighted for the punter."
The previous record totejackpot dividend was £494,880.00 at Newmarket on October 3, 2003.
