24.02.10 - RACING AT AINTREE

Mamma Mia! Björn Again to play Aintree

Aintree Racecourse today confirmed that internationally acclaimed Björn Again will play at the famous Liverpool course for its only June evening racing fixture on Friday 11th June.

Founded in 1988, the highly acclaimed show has performed over 3,500 times in over 50 countries around the Northern Hemisphere and will be making its first ever visit to Aintree, the home of the John Smith’s Grand National.

This evening will be the third and final fixture in Aintree’s spring racing calendar, with Irish night billed as the racecourse’s first fixture after the 2010 John Smith’s Grand National on Friday 7th May.  Headlining this evening will be cult Irish Rock band, ‘Aslan’, named ‘Best Irish Band’ at the Meteor Irish Music awards in 2008.

These announcements just leave just one further announcement to be made for Ladies’ Night on Friday 14th May.

Commenting ahead of the 2010 John Smith’s Grand National, which takes place in just 6 weeks’ time, Marketing & PR Manager, Emma Owen, said:  “We are delighted to have lined-up some great acts for spring racing at Aintree, welcoming Björn Again and Aslan to Aintree for the very first time.  Both are quality performers and we hope provide exciting opportunities for spring socialising.”

Tickets for all evenings can be purchased in advance by visiting www.aintree.co.uk.  Admission costs for adults, £16 if purchased up to 48 hours before the race evening (£19 after this time and on the night).  A premium grandstand badge is available within the Platinum County Lounge for £25 in advance (£30 from 48 hours before the meeting).  Restaurant hospitality is also available on all evenings for £83 person.

Tickets and hospitality packages are also still available for the 2010 John Smith’s Grand National meeting, which is back at Aintree from Thursday 8th April to Saturday 10th April, and can be purchased online at aintree.co.uk.  The advance booking office at the racecourse will open on Monday 8th March for Racegoers who wish to purchase in person.
