Mad Scientists visit Aintree Racecourse ahead of its Freaky Family Funday
Potions and slime were being created on the famous Grand National course today ahead of Aintree’s annual family raceday, Freaky Family Funday on Sunday 24th October.
Children’s educational workshop company, Mad Science, will keep the kids entertained with theatrical experiments and slime making and forms just part of a bumper weekend of sport and entertainment for Aintree’s first race meeting of the new jump racing season.
The opening day of the race weekend is Aintree’s only Saturday raceday outside of the John Smith’s Grand National and features the £60,000 totescoop6 Grade 2 Old Roan Chase, last year competed by 2010 John Smith’s Grand National winner Don’t Push It amongst the quality line up, whilst the day’s big matches will be shown in a dedicated sports lounge. Racegoers attending on this day can also enjoy a complimentary post race drink at Alma de Cuba on production of their race ticket.
The following day Aintree’s Matalan supported Freaky Family Funday will feature a day of six competitive races, alongside free Halloween-themed entertainment for all ages, including a Mad Science workshop and slime making stations, face painting, fancy dress competitions and magic shows. There will also be pony grooming and free pony rides for the children in Aintree’s Equestrian Centre. For adults wanting to have their fortune told, we will also have tarot card readers within the Tommy Wallis Suite.
Admission for children aged 17 and under is free for the whole weekend and ‘early-bird’ tickets are now available at a special advance price of £16 (standard general admission price usually £19 after 21/10/10). General admission tickets give racegoers access to all public areas, including Aintree’s unreserved grandstand seats.
Tickets can be purchased now by booking online at aintree.co.uk or by calling the ticket hotline on 0844 579 3001. Great deals on hospitality packages are also available within the Princess Royal Restaurant, where kids eat free and hospitality is available from just £50 per person, inclusive of admission badge, a set menu and racecards, call 0151 522 2911 to find out more.
