TODAY’S CROWD BRINGS NEW RECORD ATTENDANCE FOR THE JOHN SMITH’S GRAND NATIONAL MEETING

 Today’s sell-out crowd came to 70,291.

 The new modern-day record total attendance at the three-day John Smith’s Grand National was 153,583 after another sell-out on Ladies’ Day (Friday) of 53,344 and a record crowd on Liverpool Day (Thursday) of 29,948.

 The previous record attendance over the three days was 151,660 in 2005.

 BYPASSING BECAME POSSIBLE TWO YEARS AGO

 Bypassing of fences in the John Smith’s Grand National became possible two years ago for the first time as part of ongoing safety improvements at Aintree.
